•  Please see “Safety Instructions” manual, supplied with this instruction manual.
• CAUTION! Never use the machine without the guard. Keep guards in place.
• CAUTION! Do not grind material containing amianthus. Working with materials containing amianthus/asbestos and/or silica stones produces a dust, which is harmful to health. Protect yourself from inhaling this dust, in compliance with current regulations on accident prevention.
•  For your personal safety, always connect the machine to a mains supply protected by a differential and thermal cutout switch, in accordance with regulations on low-voltage wiring sitemaps.
•  Do not pierce the motor housing as this could damage the double insulation (use adhesive labels).
•  Check the work area with a metal detector for hidden wires, gas and/or water pipes.
•  Always unplug the machine before carrying out work on it.
•  Always stop the machine by switching it off, not by unplugging it.
•  CAUTION! Before each use, inspect the plug and lead. Should they need replacing, have this done by an official service centre.
•  Keep the mains lead clear of the working range of the machine.
•  Only plug the machine in when it is switched off.
•  Always use the machine with the auxiliary handle attached.
•  Hold the machine firmly in both hands and in a stable position.
•  Check that the speed shown on the disc is equal to or greater than the grinder’s rated speed.
•  Ensure that the disc size is correct for the size of the grinder.
•  The abrasive discs should be handled and kept with the utmost care, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
•  Protect the sanding tool from knocks, blows and grease.
•  Check the disc carefully before use to make sure it is not damaged or cracked. Replace cracked or damaged discs immediately.
•  Make sure the discs are fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
•  The machine should be used for dry cutting and grinding only.
•  Check that the disc has been properly fitted and secured before using the machine. Start the machine with no load and run for 30 seconds in a safe position; if you notice serious vibration or any other defect stop the machine immediately. This may be a sign of incorrect fitting or a badly balanced disc.
•  Use only clamps or plates specified for this tool. Do not use separate bushings or adapters to adapt grinding discs with large holes.
•  In machines designed to be used with accessories with threaded holes, check that the thread on the disc is long enough to take the length of the spindle.
•  Ensure that the part to be worked on is firmly secured before beginning any grinding or cutting operation.
•  For trimming, the angle formed by the disc and the work surface should be approximately 30 to 40 degrees for optimum results.
•  Never use cutting discs for deburring. Do not subject cutting discs to lateral pressure.  Beware of shavings that fly off. Hold the tool that so that sparks fly away from you or other people and inflammable materials.
•  When working on stone, use dust extraction equipment and wear a mask.
•  When working with the machine, always wear safety goggles and ear protection. Other personal protection equipment such as dust masks, gloves, helmet and apron should be worn when necessary, along with non-slip safety footwear. A dust mask is required when the dust from the material deburred, such as paint or other coating, is harmful. If in doubt, use safety equipment.
•  Make sure the vents are free when working with dust. If they require cleaning, first unplug the machine, do not use metal objects and avoid damaging internal parts.
•  Do not touch the sanding/grinding tools when rotating.
•  CAUTION! The wheel keeps moving for a long time after the machine has been switched off.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This angle grinder has been designed for cutting, deburring and cutting metals and stone without the use of water.
BEFORE USING THIS TOOL
Before using the tool, make sure the mains voltage is correct: it must be the same as that on the specification label. Machines with 230V can also be connected to a 220-V mains supply.
Before plugging in the tool, always make sure the control switch A and the trigger B work properly and return to the "OFF" position when released.
FITTING SAFETY DEVICES
CAUTION! Always unplug the machine before carrying out work on it. Always work with the guard in place and wear protective goggles.
1.1. Fitting the disc guard
Insert the guard flange E in the slot in the collar of the machine plate and turn it to the desired working position. If the guard does not fit in the collar, loosen the bolt F.
CAUTION! When fitting, the closed part of the disc guard should always point towards the user.
1.2. Fitting the auxiliary handle
Use of the auxiliary handle is obligatory in order to ensure greater control and safety when handling the tool. The auxiliary handle D must be screwed on to the right or left side, or on top, depending on the type of work to be carried out.
FITTING THE ACCESSORIES (DISCS AND WHEELS)
CAUTION! For safety reasons, the machine should always be unplugged from the mains before changing the disc orwheel. Always work with the guard on and wear safety
goggles.Use deburring and cutting discs with fibre-reinforced synthetic binders, for a max. peripheral speed of 80 m/s and cup wheels with synthetic binder for 45 m/s.
Protect discs and wheels from knocks and blows.
WARNING! Never press the blocking button C when the machine  is running. The shaft must have stopped completely before the blocking button C is pressed.
To fit the disc, proceed as follows:
2) Block the spindle (shaft) J by pressing the blocking button C. © With the pin spanner G remove the clamping nut H from
the spindle J. ® Fit the abrasive disc on the support plate I. © Replace the clamping nut H using the pin spanner G The
position of the nut H will depend on the thickness of the disc (see fig. 4 and 5). © Once the disc is fitted, check that the blocking button has returned to its original position due to movement of the incorporated spring.
STARTING THE TOOL
CAUTION! Check that the mains voltage is the same asthat in the machine’s specifications.
Plug the machine in with the switch off. This model has a safety switch to prevent the machine from starting up unexpectedly.
Starting the machine: Press the button A and pull the trigger B simultaneously, until the latter starts to operate. The
trigger switch B will block for continuous operation. Stopping the machine: Pull the trigger switch B
Start-up current reducer (for models FG21/230S, FG23/230S and FG25/230S only)
The machine's start-up current exceeds the rated current. By means of this reducer, the current is reduced to the point where the fuses (slow 16A) do not blow. WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
For cutting or deburring, the part to be worked on must be secured, unless it is heavy enough to remain in a stable
position by itself. For optimum performance and results when deburring, it is advisable that the surface and the disc form an angle of
approximately 30º-40º. Guide the tool by pressing lightly forwards and backwards. This prevents the part from overheating or changing colour and the formation of striations.
CAUTION! Never use a cutting disc for deburring.
When cutting, do not exert pressure on the disc. Do not tilt the machine. The disc should not tilt or oscillate. Work with a steady speed, appropriate for the type of material. When cutting, bear in mind the direction of the work. Guide the machine against the direction of the cutting tool, never in the opposite direction; otherwise there is a risk of the machine veering off the cutting line uncontrollably. When cutting profiles or rectangular section tubes, we recommend starting the cut on the shortest side.
ADAPTING THE REAR HANDLE
CAUTION! For safety reasons, the machine should always be unplugged from the mains before changing the disc or wheel. The rear handle L may be turned 90º to the left and to the right in relation to the motor housing.
This enables the ON/OFF switch to be turned to the most suitable working position; for example, for cutting with a guide stand (accessory) or for the left-handed. To turn the rear handle, follow the instructions below: Ô Press the rear handle turning button K and, at the same time, turn the rear handle L to the left or right until it locks. © To return to the initial position, do the same in reverse.
