SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Please see “Safety Instructions” manual, supplied with this instruction manual.

WARNING! Do not use the machine without the protection devices.

WARNING! Do not grind material containing amianthus. Working with materials containing amianthus/asbestos and/or silica stones produces a dust, which is harmful to health. Protect yourself from inhaling this dust, in compliance with current regulations on accident prevention.

• Do not let children use the machine.

• For your personal safety, always connect the machine to a mains supply protected by a differential and thermal cutout switch, in accordance with regulations on low-voltage wiring sitemaps.

• Do not pierce the motor housing as this could damage the double insulation (use adhesive labels).

• Check the work area with a metal detector for hidden wires, gas and/or water pipes.

• Always unplug the machine before carrying out work on it.

• Always stop the machine by switching it off, not by unplugging it.

WARNING! For security reasons it is essential to control that the differential is working properly before beginning to work. Repair or change the damaged differential only by qualified repair personnel.

WARNING! Before each use, inspect the plug and lead. Should they need replacing, have this done by an official service centre.

• In case the cable gets damaged or breaks during work session, do not touch it, but disconnect the plug from power source. Never use the machine with a damaged cable.

• Keep the mains lead clear of the working range of the machine.

• Only plug the machine in when it is switched off.

• Always use the machine with the auxiliary handle attached.

• Hold the machine firmly in both hands and in a stable position.

• Use only grinding accessories whose admissible revolutions are at least the same that the device’s noload revolutions.

• Ensure that the grinding accessory dimensions are correct for the size of the grinder.

• The abrasive discs should be handled and kept with the utmost care, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Protect grinding accessory from knocks, blows and grease.

• Check grinding accessory carefully before use to make sure it is not damaged or cracked. Replace cracked or damaged discs immediately.

• Make sure the grinding accessories are fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Check that the grinding accessory has been properly fitted and secured before using the machine. Start the machine with no load and run for 30 seconds in a safe position; if you notice serious vibration or any other defect stop the machine immediately. This may be a sign of incorrect fitting or a badly balanced grinding accessory.

• Use only clamps or plates specified for this tool. Do not use separate bushings or adapters to adapt grinding accessories with large holes.

• In machines designed to be used with accessories with threaded holes, check that the thread on the disc is long enough to take the length of the spindle.

• Ensure that the part to be worked on is firmly secured before beginning any operation.

• Do not fix tool in a bench screw.

• For trimming, the angle formed by the disc and the work surface should be approximately 30 to 40 degrees for optimum results.

• Bring the tool near the work piece only when connected.

• Beware of shavings that fly off. Hold the tool that so that sparks fly away from you or other people and inflammable

materials.

• When working on stone, use dust extraction equipment and wear a mask. The vacuum must be authorised to extract stone dust.

• When working with the machine, always wear safety goggles and ear protection. Other personal protection equipment such as dust masks, gloves, helmet and apron should be worn when necessary, along with nonslip safety footwear. A dust mask is required when the dust from the material deburred, such as paint or other coating, is harmful. If in doubt, use safety equipment.

• Make sure the vents are free when working with dust. If they require cleaning, first unplug the machine, do not use metal objects and avoid damaging internal parts.

• Keep hands away from rotating parts.

• Do not touch the grinding tools when rotating.

WARNING! The grinding accessory keeps moving for a long time after the machine has been switched off.

• In case of power cut or when disconnecting cord directly from power supply, depress immediately the On-/off switch and place it in the “Off” position, thus avoiding accidental starting.

• Connect those tools used outdoors by means of an adjusted differential to a shooting power supply of maximum 30 mA. Use authorised extension cables to work outdoors.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

This grinder has been designed to polish wet or dry stone with emery paper with grinding cups or crowns. It can also be used to polish and brush metallic or painted surfaces without adding water.

FITTING SAFETY DEVICES

CAUTION! Always unplug the machine before carrying out work on it. Wear safety goggles.

Fitting the auxiliary handle

Use of the auxiliary handle is obligatory in order to ensure greater control and safety when handling the tool. The auxiliary handle C must be screwed on to the right or left side, or on top, depending on the type of work to be carried out.

FITTING THE ACCESSORIES

(GRINDING ACCESSORIES)

WARNING! For safety reasons, the machine should always be unplugged from the mains before changing the grinding accessory. Wear safety goggles. Use deburring discs with fibre-reinforced synthetic binders, for a max. peripheral speed of 80 m/s and cup wheels with synthetic binder for 45 m/s. Protect grinding accessories from knocks and blows. Clean F spindle (shaft) and all assembling parts. To tighten and loosen grinding accessories retain F spindle (shaft) using 17 mm and 27 mm fixed spanners. The main grinding accessories to be used with this machine are: sanding crown (prior installation of a fast fastening flange), felt polishing disc, polishing sponge (on top of which a lamb’s wool hood can be placed), rubber sanding plate, cup brush (disc brush)...

BEFORE USING THIS TOOL

Before using the tool, make sure the mains voltage is correct: it must be the same as that on the specification label. Machines with 230V can also be connected to a 220-V mains supply.

PRCD differential performance check

WARNING! To avoid an accidental activation of the machine, the On/Off switch A must be disconnected when checking PRCD differential performance. For safety reasons, it is essential to control that the differential D for persons protection is working properly:

- Press the “ON” key on differential D. When the red pilot light turns on, the differential is ready for operation.

- Press the “TEST” key. The pilot light must turn off.

- Press again the “ON” key on differential D.

WARNING! If PRCD diferential does not activate, or if it switches off several times when starting tool, overall combination must be checked. In this case operation is not permitted. Before plugging in the tool, always make sure the On/Off switch A and the retaining button B work properly and return to the "off" position when released.

STARTING THE TOOL

WARNING! Check that the mains voltage is the same as that in the machine’s specifications. Plug the machine in with the switch off. This model has a safety switch to prevent the machine from starting up unexpectedly. Starting the machine: Press the retaining button B and the On/Off switch A simultaneously, until the latter starts to operate. The On/Off switch A will be blocked for continuous operation. Stopping the machine: Press the On/Off switch A.

Constant electronics

The built-in module permits:

- Soft start.

- The maintenance of a practically constant rated speed up to rated power.

WARNING! To avoid accidental starting of the tool after having activated differential D, depress immediately On/Off switch A and place it in the disconnection position.

CAUTION! Check that the grinding accessory has been properly fitted and secured before using the machine. Start the machine with no load and run for 30 seconds in a safe position; if you notice serious vibration or any other defect, stop the machine immediately. This may be a sign of incorrect fitting or a badly balanced grinding accessory.

WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION! To begin any kind of polishing or grinding operation it will be necessary to secure the work piece, unless it maintains a stable position due to its own weight. The tool is adequate and versatile to work either paint, stone and metal surfaces. To work soft materials such as plaster or painted surfaces it is recommendable to use sanding sheets assembled in the rubber sanding plate. To deoxidise surfaces you can use, as well as sanding sheets, cup and plate brushes. For optimum performance and results when deburring, it is advisable that the surface and the disc form an angle of approximately 30º-40º. Guide the tool by pressing lightly forwards and backwards. This prevents the part from overheating or changing colour and the formation of striations.

CAUTION! Never use a cutting disc for deburring.
