SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS• Please see manual "Safety Instructions" which is supplied together with this instruction manual.
• CAUTION! When sanding materials such as lead paint, certain types of wood and metal, the dust produced is harmful/toxic. It is important to determine whether the paint being sanded contains lead or not before starting work. Protect yourself from inhaling this dust, in compliance with current regulations on accident prevention, by wearing a mask designed for working with lead paint and fumes.
• WARNING! Pregnant women and children should not enter any area where paint is being sanded until it has been thoroughly cleaned. Pregnant women and children are at greater risk from lead poisoning.
• For your personal safety, always connect the machine to a mains supply protected by a differential and thermal cutout switch, in accordance with regulations on low-voltage wiring sitemaps.
• Do not pierce the motor housing as this could damage the double insulation (use adhesive labels).
• Remove the pin from the base of the plug before carrying out any adjustment, repairs or maintenance.
• CAUTION! Before each use, inspect the plug and lead. Should they need replacing, have this done by an official service centre.

• Keep the mains lead clear of the working range of the machine. Always lead the cable away behind you.
• Only plug-in when machine is switched off.
• When using the machine, always wear safety goggles, gloves and non-slip footwear, and it is advisable to wear ear protection.
• Hold the machine by the insulated grip areas when carrying out any operation in which the cutting tool may touch hidden or its own lead. If a live wire makes contact with any of the machine’s exposed metal parts, it may give the operator an electric shock.
• Hold the machine firmly in both hands.
• Make sure that the belt is not in contact with the part to be worked on before switching on.
• Keep hands away from rotating parts.
• Do not put the machine down whilst it is operating. Use it only when holding it in your hands.
• Do not allow the machine to get wet, nor should it be used in wet environments. Do not allow the surface of the part being worked on to come into contact with water.
• Do not touch the sandpaper during or immediately after working, as it becomes very hot and can cause serious burns.
• Never attempt to clean off dust or shavings resulting from sanding when the machine is operating.
APPLICATIONS
The rectangular base of orbital sanders performs very
fast, small circular movements without rotating. The
result is very smooth, scratch-free. Most tools have a
perforated base through which dust is vaccumed, when
using perforated abrasive sandpaper. They are used to
obtain a fine finish.
WARNING! Any use differing from the above is strictly
forbidden.
Use only for the following types of work:
1. Finishing wood surfaces
2. Removing rust and finishing steel surfaces
BEFORE USING THIS TOOL
CAUTION! Before carrying out any work, check, for instance, using a metal detector, that there are no electric wires or gas or water pipes under the surfaces you wish to work on.
Make sure the mains voltage is correct: it must be the same as that on the specification label. Machines with 230V can also be connected to a 220-V mains supply. Before plugging in the tool, always make sure that the switch works properly and returns to the "OFF" position when released.
MOUNTING OF SANDPAPER SHEETSWARNING: Whenever you work on the machine, always unplug it first.
First select the the right grain of sandpaper for the surface to be sanded.
1. Position the sheet at the same level as the side edge of the supporting pad.
2. Lift and open up the clamping spring and insert the end of the sheet.
3. Clamp down the spring.
4. Fold the paper over the supporting pad at both ends.
5. Check that the paper is tightly stretched over the pad.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONSIntermittent use
This sander is put into operation by pressing switch A.
Switching off: Release trigger switch A.
Continuous use
Switching on: Press the On-/off switch A and then the locking button J, after that release on-off switch A. Switching off: Press the On-/off switch A and then release.
Move the sander over the entire surface to be sanded. Its weight is pressure enough. Extra pressure merely slows the sanding action and produces an irregular finish, in addition to wearing out the sander and sandpaper. Do not leave the machine in operation by itself since it will over-sand the surface.
Always switch the sander on before placing on the surface to be sanded. Never switch off the sander when positioned on the surface: first lift off and then switch off. Do not use the sander without sandpaper since this would damage the supporting pad. Keep hands away from the air holes and ensure that neither oil nor water can penetrate into the motor.
DUST EXTRACTION
Connect a vacuum aspirator suction tube G to the suction nozzle on machine H either directly or by using supplied adapter I.
NOISE AND VIBRATION
The machine's noise and vibration levels, measured in compliance with EN50144, usually reach: Acoustic pressure = 60 dB(A) Sound-power level = 73 dB(A)
Use ear protection!
Vibration acceleration = 3.2 m/s2
