SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Please see “Safety Instructions” manual, supplied with this instruction manual.
• For your personal safety, always connect the machine to a mains supply protected by a differential and thermal cutout switch, in accordance with regulations on low-voltage wiring sitemaps.
• Do not pierce the motor housing as this could damage the insulation (use adhesive labels).
• Always unplug the machine before carrying out work on it.
• Always stop the machine by switching it off, not by unplugging it.
• Always keep the mains lead clear of the working range of the machine.
• Only plug the machine in when it is switched off.
• Never use the machine without the guard. Keep guards in place.
• Beware of shavings that fly off.
• When using the machine, always wear safety goggles, gloves, a mask for protection from the dust produced and non-slip footwear, and it is advisable to wear ear protection when using circular saws.
• Make sure the vents are free when working with dust. If they require cleaning, first unplug the machine, do not insert metal objects and avoid damaging internal parts.
• Do not lock the mobile blade guard (oscillating protector) which covers the saw blade completely in the open position during cutting operations.
• Ensure that the mobile guard and all retractable devices work freely and correctly without blocking.
• Never remove the riving knife E.
• On circular saws do not use blades which are thicker or have a tooth set which is thinner than the thickness of the riving knife.
• Bring the saw near the workpiece only when the machine is on.
• After turning off the saw, do not attempt to stop the blade by exerting lateral pressure.
• Do not try to cut very small workpieces.
• Do not use broken or cracked blades. Use only well sharpened blades in good condition. Change broken or bent blades immediately.
• Saw blades of highly alloyed, high-speed steel (HSS) must not be used.
• Only use saw blades conforming to the specifications contaned in these operating instructions.
• Check that the saw blade is secure and turns in the right direction.
• Unplug the machine from the mains before changing the blade, making adjustments or carrying out any other maintenance work on it.
• Using the manufacturer’s information, ensure that the diameter, thickness and other characteristics of the blade are suitable for the tool and also that the blade is suitable for the speed of the shaft.
• Ensure that the riving knife is adjusted so that the distance between the knife and the serrated edge of the blade is no greater than 5 mm, and that the serrated edge of the blade extends no more than 5 mm beyond the lower edge of the riving knife.
• Always use the riving knife except when the blade sinks into the workpiece.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This tool is specially designed for straight sawing only of boards made from wood and derivatives (plywood, chipboard etc.).

BEFORE USING THIS TOOL
Before using the tool, make sure the mains voltage is correct: it must be the same as that on the specification label. Machines with 230V can also be connected to a 220-V mains supply. Before plugging in the tool, always make sure the control switch A works properly and returns to the OFF position when released.

START UP
WARNING! Only plug in when machine is switched off. Press the locking button I, and squeeze the trigger in the on/off switch A. When the on/off switch is released, the machine stops.

FITTING THE DISC
WARNING!:
Always unplug the machine before carrying out any work on it.
CAUTION: Do not use bent or cracked blades or highspeed steel blades. Do not use saw blades that do not conform to the specifications contained in these instructions.
1. Move the mobile guard B backwards and hold it in place.
2. To loosen or tighten the screw D with the key supplied with the machine, secure the blade with the aid of a screwdriver as follows: turn the blade guard to the side and turn the blade until the hole lies under the saw shoe and insert a screwdriver in the hole so that the blae does not move (or place the saw on a piece of wood).
3. Loosen the screw D and remove the setting disc C.
4. Fit the saw blade and tighten with the setting disc C and the screw D.
5. Before fitting the new blade, make sure the surfaces in contact with the setting discs are clean. The teeth of the saw should protrude beyond the riving knife E. (The arrow printed on the fixed guard of the machine indicates the cutting direction of the teeth).

SETTINGS
1 Cutting depth setting.
For a clean perfect cut, the cutting depth should be adjusted to the thickness of the wood to be worked on, so that the saw blade protrudes a tooth’s height from the material. To adjust the cutting depth, loosen the wing nut F and move the machine upwards or downwards. The scale printed on the parallel guide indicates the cutting depth.
2 Cutting angle setting.
It can cut vertically and with an inclination of up to 45º. The angle is adjusted by loosening the wing nut J and according the scale printed on the base.
3 Riving knife adjustment.
WARNING:
The riving knife E prevents the blade from seizing up duriing cutting operations and shold alwyas be used for safety reasons.
The machine is supplied with the riving knife adjusted. When fitting a new blade, follow the steps below for readjustment:
1. Raise the mobile guard B and loosen the screw button D.
2. Move the wedge through the slot to a distance from the teeth tip and a cutting depth from same of 2 to 3 mm (máx. 5 mm).
3. Tighten the screw D and the machine is ready to work.
4 Lateral stop adjustment. For parallel cutting, use the lateral stop H. Cutting width is adjusted with the scale or according to
the plotting. Tighten the wing nut G to work with the lateral stop.
5 Cutting indication. Notch K is used as cutting indication with the blade in horizontal position. It is advisable to perform test cuts.

DUST EXTRACTION
WARNING!
Always make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before fitting or removing any dust extraction device.
Dust extraction keeps the workplace clean, prevents dust build-up in the air and facilitates waste elimination. These saws are equipped with a dust extraction hole N to which an adapter can be fitted. A universal vacuum cleaner may be fitted or any dust extraction device.
CAUTION: Always use a vacuum extractor designed in accordance with the applicable Guidelines on sawdust emission. The flexible hoses of conventional vacuum cleaners fit directly onto the dust extraction nozzle.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE
WARNING! Always unplug the machine before carrying out work on it.
- Checking the saw blade: Deposits of resin and glue on the saw blade cause inefficient cutting. To avoid them, always clean the blade immediately after use.
- Inspect the mounting screws: Regularly inspect all the mounting screws and ensure they are firmly tightened. Should any screw be loose, tighten it immediately. Failure to do so could put you at serious risk.
- Motor maintenance: Always take the greatest care over this and make sure that the motor winding is not damaged and does not become wet with oil or water.
- The vents should always be kept clean and free of obstacles.
- Clean the machine thoroughly after each use. Blast the motor regularly with compressed air.
- Check that the mains lead is in good condition. If it is not, take it to an Official Service Centre to have it replaced.
- Brush replacement: Brushes must be replaced when length reaches 8 mm or less. To do so, please contact an authorized after sales service center. We recommend that every other time you take a tool to an after sales service center for carbon brushes replacement you also order a general maintenance (cleaning and lubrication).
- Use only Freud accessories and spares. Parts the changing of which is not covered in this instruction manual, should be replaced in a Freud Official Service Centre (See Warranty/Official Service Centre address leaflet).

WARRANTY
See general warranty conditions printed on the attached sheet.

NOISE AND VIBRATION
This tool has been designed and made to reduce noise to a minimum. However, in spite of this, in certain circumstances the maximum noise level in the place of work could exceed 85 dBA. In this case, the operator should wear ear protection. The machine’s noise and vibration levels, measured in compliance with EN 50144, usually reach:
Acoustic pressure = 96 dB(A)
Sound-power level = 109 dB(A)
Use ear protection!
Vibration acceleration = 2,9 m/s2
